5 different ways every foodie can enjoy Al Brown's cooking

Read the book, eat the pie – is there anything this man can’t do? These are all the ways you can enjoy Al Brown's coveted cooking.
1. Go to Depot Eatery
Depot Eatery (“Open since 7am”) has been a buzzy, casual fixture in Federal St in Auckland for yonks. Get your oysters shucked fresh, your wine in a carafe and your potato skins with manchego.
2. Visit The Fed
Next door is Federal Delicatessen (“The Fed”) – Al’s take on the New York deli, and home of the best chicken sandwich.

3. Try Best Ugly
Then there’s Best Ugly Bagels, an homage to the hand-rolled holey dough-goods of Montreal, with three stores each in Wellington and Auckland.

4. Buy the produce
You can also buy the bagels online, along with Al’s own Old Yella Habanero Mustard and olive oils.
But wait, there’s more!
5. Read the Books
He’s also written four books: Go Fish, Stoked, Depot: Biography of a Restaurant and Eat Up New Zealand, all available from albrown.co.nz.
